Yup a truly sad day for technology and for people who enjoy his products. Personally to me he was a guy that followed his heart in the products he created, some bad as the Apple Newton and some good like the Ipod and Apple Macs. I don't use any of his products because I find his products aimed at the mass market and aimed at the not so tech sazy customer, which they are perfect for. I also liked the fact he kept Microsoft on their toes and the love/hate relationship the companies had for each other, but as any tech nerd will tell you they always respected each other and each others views to a point, which inturn made better products for their customers and helped to push the limits of technology.
I'm more of a Bill Gates (Microsoft) fan have to say, but secretly enjoyed what Steve Jobs was doing with technology and his charismatic marketing style/strategies and of course his sense of humour regarding Microsoft was always funny to watch. I hope he's in a better place now, he was very ill with cancer and we could all see it and he always kept a happy strong face while going threw such a horrible illness that must have been very scary for him to go threw. A gentleman that will be missed but will be remembered in history for sure.
My sympathies go out to his family and friends. R.I.P
