i have been out of the dating scene for SOOO LONG. aprox 12 years..... ouch

what is conciderd a resonable amount to spend on a date and who shoud pay?....

last date i went on was with my kids... hehehe for mothers day they wanted to take me to the top of the hub at the prodential center in boston. we split the bill.

just looking for some insite. i feel a little lost.

I was in the same situation when I got divorced. I was married for 12 years. Divorced now for 6. My first 2 years I didn't date at all! I got pretty lonely and friends kept insisting I went on a dating site. That was quite an experience. I probably had over 100 dates and only 5 of them ever got a second date. So many of them didn't look anything like their pictures of lied about things on their profiles.

It really depends on the guy you go out with. I'm still a little old fashioned and like my door opened and my dinner paid for. I had one guy ask me out to coffee just to talk in person for the first time and he didn't even fork out the $3 for my coffee. I think if they do the asking they should at least pay then.

I think it really depends on your personality and past experiences. When I dated guys in the past I used to pay and we went out for steak most of the time. But now, I don't plan on paying for the full dates anymore. I think I deserive to be taken out every

I think it depends who asks who out. If I set the date up I try to pay but most of the time the guy insists anyway.

I'm old school too I love it when guys pays.
I will however not go order the most expensive thing on the menu if I really wanna see that guy again ( maybe he needs to pay some bills too after taking me out).

I always some some money in my handbag, for those guys who belive that beeing an independent woman means she can pay her restaurant bills. Yes, dear I can pay but you won't see my face again :orglaugh

thanks. i just have a feeling that sometimes i am unreasonabe.......

like i will always have enough money to cover... but i feel the ASKING party should pay if they want to consider it a date.. date.

idk. i am not even sure i am ready. or would even consider anyone that would potentialy ask me where i live. i just kinda got to thinking about it. i am always giving my little sisters advice and now wonder if i am OUT DATED... lol

i wont let my sisters talk to a guy unless : they have thier own place, own a car, have a good paying job, do not mention mom every other sentance.... hhehehehehe and must be clean, well kept, no HUGE criminal back ground.... ugh ok am i tooo picky?

I pay 90 % of the time

Sometimes a lady demands to pay - I try to allow especially if it is soda or coffee only

Time varies - if you ask - it is probably past time to date and explore again :twocents

I usually go dutch or alternate :you pay this date and i'll get the next" at least that's what i did in college, so maybe it's a generational thing, or a poor college thing. tho if anyone planned something special then they took care of it.
i prefer paying, at least half of the time, i'd rather we just be equals and work on getting along and being friends rather than some power-play of the man paying and expecting something because of it. if it's gonna happen it's gonna happen, if it aint, it aint and that won't change no matter how much steak and sushi you buy me.
this is a little different, but i never like driving for a date, i prefer to ride. dunno why just feels right that way.

Dutch is ok as well, if it's set up beforehand. I know that I've never expected anything because I payed for a movie or dinner and drinks, hell I've considered it a bonus to get a goodnight kiss at the end of the night! I prefer driving, but it seems like it's gone more towards meeting somewhere, arriving in different cars. At least that's how it was the last time I dated, what 8 years ago? lol
Like I said, I'm old school, open doors, pull the seat out, just the way I was raised!

i agree with sierra on this one: if she offers to pay i insist on letting me pay for it. but i do understand that some of the new generation of women are all about independence and making it on their own so i normally allow her to leave the tip (if she offers) since she wanted to pay for something. plus it's a good way to make sure she doesn't feel like she owes me anything since she still spent money. how much she leaves for the tip is also a good barometer for what kind of person she is too! if we had a great server and the meal was awesome and she is wanting to leave anything less than 20% makes me think that she doesn't appreciate good things when she gets them. and since i am a die hard romantic, i need a girl that's going to appreciate little things in life! just remember to be prepared to pay for whatever part you proposed as chivalry is quickly fading into obscurity.
