Are there any songs which are reminding you of a beloved person you've lost?

A few years ago my grandpa died. When I was young he was more a father to me than a grandpa, because my parents were pretty busy with their company. All the time when I hear this song from Luther Vandross I'm thinking of my grandpa. I miss him so much...

you're not alone tonight - keith urban

i played both these songs at my grandpa's funeral

of course The Dance by Garth Brooks is one of the universal songs of remembering people we've lost

My grandfather died on Christmas Day the same year "The Bodyguard" was released; with Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You" being played every two hours on the radio. My grandfather had a heart attack right outside my apartment and the neighbor's radio was playing that song while the EMTs were trying to revive him. Later on when I went to my grandparents apartment to get some clothes for my grandmother who was spending the night with me and my mother, the same song was playing on their radio that they left on for their dog. Fate can work in strange ways.

Whenever I hear anything from Blue October, I think of my friend that recently passed. He really loved that group and he was the one who got me into them.

18th floor balcony is my favorite:

I close my eyes and I smile
Knowing that everything is alright
To the core
So close that door
Is this happening?

My breath is on your hair
I'm unaware
That you opened the blinds and let the city in
God, you held my hand
And we stand
Just taking in everything.

And I knew it from the start
So my arms are open wide
Your head is on my stomach
And we're trying so hard not to fall asleep
Here we are
On this 18th floor balcony.
We're both flying away.

So we talked about mom's and dad's
About family pasts
Just getting to know where we came from
Our hearts were on display
For all to see
I can't believe this is happening to me

And I raised my hand as if to show you that I was yours
That I was so yours for the taking
I'm so yours for the taking
That's when I felt the wind pick up
I grabbed the rail while choking up
These words to say and then you kissed me...

I knew it from the start
So my arms are open wide
Your head is on my stomach
And we're trying so hard not to fall asleep
Here we are
On this 18th floor balcony...
We're both flying away.

And I'll try to sleep
To keep you in my dreams
'til I can bring you home with me
I'll try to sleep
And when I do I'll keep you in my... dreams

I knew it from the start
So my arms are open wide
Your head is on my stomach
And we're trying so hard not to fall asleep
So here we are
On this 18th floor balcony, yeah

I knew it from the start
My arms are open wide
Your head is on my stomach
No, we're not going to sleep

Here we are
On this 18th floor balcony... we're both..
Flying away

Another song reminds me of my uncle. He was the youngest brother of my das and a little bit crazy... When me, my sister and my brother were young he always made us laugh by doing something like "rrrring-ddooong-reeeeng-dooooong" lol

So a song which remembers us of special people can make us smile or laugh too :thumbsup

Oh man. From 1998 - 2004 I went to so many family funerals that eventually I stopped showing up. But I gotta say that they can play anything but Candle in the Wind or Tears in Heaven at mine!
