Wallace: Good evening Buckaroo. It's been a long time since we've talked.

Buckaroo: Yes Mike. I think that this situation bears close monitoring.

Wallace: I always like to ask, given your position, what's the threat board look like today?

Buckaroo: World Watch One reports all clear. So I've actually been hanging with the ' Cavaliers, we've got a gig in Trenton.

Wallace: I see, good. Now about this ascension. What's your take on it?

Buckaroo: I honestly don't know Mike. Dudley is a very capable man and everybody knows how difficult it is to achieve enlightenment, but the circumstances are, frankly, quite troubling.

Wallace: The Tommyknockers? Shiva?

Buckaroo: One or the other but both? It has never happened this way.

Wallace: When will we have a better idea of the outcome?

Buckaroo: Well Dudley is in the middle of his rebirth at the moment. Then he will have his trials in his new incarnation. We won't know for quite some time.

Wallace: I see

... At this point the two discussed various details of Eastern Philosophy and how the strange tie with Western legends is seeming to be forged. Pretty dense stuff except to the experts.

Hmm, I guess I'll have to consult our local expert on the Bhagavadgita to see if he has some clues as to when Dudley will emerge from his cocoon of reincarnation...maybe he'll consult me if he needs some lube to ease his way out.

Reality whirls and we are transported far back in time. Deep in the heart of the Indian jungle.

An immense temple. A powerful priest. A culture in its golden age.

People dance, naked brown skin bathed in sweat. Drums.

Chanting: �Kali Kali Kali�

A black granite murti depicts her in her four armed form, standing atop the chest of her husband� Shiva. He is trying to calm her as she is drunk with the blood of her slain enemies on the battlefield and is performing a most destructive dance.

Seductive form. Shapely and nearly naked. Sword, skull, bowl, and trident. Flashing red jewels for eyes.

To these people, these two gods are the forces that control, create, and destroy life. In Kali they see both a deadly, fierce side as well as a maternal, protecting side. They skillfully try to use both to their advantage in their constant struggle for existence.

Shiva is powerless without Kali. Kali is powerless without Shiva.

Why when I read this post did the phrase "What the hell are you smoking" come to mind! LMAO!! Dudley you do seem like a sweet guy, you're just on another level.

A recon group composed of surprisingly high level members of Team Banzai found the following note in the first journal entry of the day in question written in the familiar scrawl of our mountie. This perhaps surprisingly well armed team was giving the room in which the ascension occurred a very very careful going over.

"Wow, such incredible bio pictures of this Jasmine Michaels. I believe I've seen her carved in the walls of Khajuraho. mmmm and in the best way heh heh. Now if I can only remember her sect, her Ishvara. I'd like to be that for a while ; )"

Perfect Tommy, the leader of the recon group, of course saw this too and made the correct association. It was no mistake that Buckaroo chose him for this job. And the choice, without any words being spoken, made the other members of the groups keenly aware of how important their job this day was.

Perfect Tommy let the records fall into the "to be dealt with later pile." He knew he had to find answers fast. And this damned rat hole was so crammed with a life's worth of momentos, books, disguises, weapons.

"Not that different from a ' lectroid nest", he thought. His scanning eyes tripped upon a painting by a famous Spanish painter, an impressionistic work of a madman. He smiled for he knew the story of that painting. It was a kind of gentleman's gift from a Chinese warlord, Pho Bin Jai better known as Lord Su Gahs. He had had Dudley dead to rights, looking down the barrels of several large caliber automatics, when the mountie's ability to go to the "insane plane" had created an out.

"You may need to play that card again my man" thought Tommy as his focus returned again to the search. "Glad I am in these shoes and not your socks right now"

)

A younger Dudley, struggling his way through a desert region of the subcontinent.

Plauged by hunger. Tortured by thirst. Mind troubled with fever. Vultures circling overhead.

His dark humor ever his umbrella, he manages to choke out , as he struggles in the burning sun,

"The disease, deprivation, and infernal climate I can easily deal with. It is the fucking two bit philosophers under every goddamned stone in this place that make me want to put a gun to my head."

Another flashback...

It sat on his desk. One of the first MacIntosh machines. Waiting to be tried. For the first time he saw the long march of inits across the screen. He saw the happy mac symbol and smiled. No more dealing with the YoYoDyne mainframe in his future, that's for sure.

His girl called to him: "Honey, what are you doing? It's late. Come to bed."

He said with assurance: "It will be just a moment my love. I just want to get some idea of what this thing can do."

He had that typical, but still so wonderful encounter with the mac, becoming more and more engrossed. So engrossed that he failed to notice the sudden transformation of soft, light background flicker to a sickly green screen beam. Someone observing him at that moment would have noticed him learning much faster. His fingers flying at an unnatural rate over the keyboard. They would also perhaps have noticed him slouch a bit down from his nearly perfect, mountie posture.

His girl slept alone that night. She found a noticably different man when she woke up. Though she couldn't quite identify what had changed. Just that he seemed a bit unnatural, out of sorts.

It was the beginning.

It is hard for a writing team to resist, however, a chance to take a double shot, in good nature, at the sheer number of mystics in India as well as give some return fire for having their words called bullshit in a poster's very first post to a thread.

But if it makes the peace we will happily withdraw the words with our point made we think.

Kind of like looking at Cliff Notes before finishing a story, we felt at this point that it might also be good to point out that something ain't quite right with the Dudley character in this story, to put it mildly.

Those of you who have marveled in the past at his courtly treatment of women, for example, :winkwink

might have noticed a little bit of a change in his approach. Of course there is also the business about being blasted by green light to help give a clue.

Any minors out there, please follow the Buckaroo Banzai character for strength of character, the Perfect Tommy character for wardrobe selection, and try not to identify too much with Dudley at this point in his life.

*sigh* It hurts us more than you I'm sure to do this to such a loved and lovable character as Dudley, but that is the price for being true to your creation.

Well, I don't think Dudley should disappear from the continent. I think he just needs to remember the nature of the place where he's arrived and the type of natives he is dealing with.

You can't really expect the cultured sophistication of the Italian Medicis when you step foot in the wild Serengeti. Don't be surprised when you get poked by the savage natives
