My favorite animal is the Grizzly Bear

Only from afar tho!

Grizzlies normally avoid humans, they will attack and have been known to seriously injure and even kill humans. Grizzlies can outrun humans, and can climb trees. If charged by a Grizzly, stand your ground; if attacked, lie flat on your stomach and play dead.

Ocean mammals are my favorite

They have a high level of communication - especially Dolphins

Whales and Sharks have always been fascinating to me also .

I am over 96 years old and should have picked Dinosaurs :orglaugh

I will have to look a couple of words, to make sure I am understanding what you wrote clearly, BUT! Horses have always had a spot in my life. I learned to ride when I was a kid, earning my lessons by mucking out the stalls, clearing trails, scrubbing the water toughs when needed, ect. I like how versatile they are as well.

Wow, a kid's dream huh? I'll add beautiful, graceful, and can find some with such amazing personalities.

Regarding the jargon heh heh If I want to sound like a mad scientist, all I have to do is pick up a biology book and start reading out loud in some crazy voice. They have some of the best words and subjects for it. It is fun to see how close you can come to sounding like a pro. :orglaugh

My take on the concept behind the words is that the flavor of evolutionary theory in vogue until pretty recently painted a picture of a slow, steady, fairly predictable process from less to more adapted, less to more complex organisms. With the horse as a theorist's dream example. But recently a competing theory arose that assumes that it is much more likely for species to not change much at all in the mean for some trait over their lifetime and change comes mainly through generation of new species off the old line.

Because the old theory has to declare the fossil record as incomplete because of missing transitional forms whereas the new theory can instead claim a lot of positive evidence for unchanging species, there is a pretty fundamental and testable difference that has generated a lot of study. Not as stuffy and dead an area as I was lead to believe as a kid visiting our city's kind of shabby natural history museum. :orglaugh

I was kind of spoiled for museums growing up with Smithsonian(s) in DC ;) I remember skipping school and going to 2-4 museums in a day and learning way more than being in school offered.

Awright the kid had initiative lol. Glad you got to enjoy those and at the perfect age for them too.

We lived in a small town in the mountains when I was that age and so were much more likely to goof around outside.

Yes, I knew that, and they do rock for that!! When I lived in south Texas, I used to see dolphins all the times, as they played in the wake of the ferries.

Snakes....I own 2 colombian Red Tail Boas. Best pet you can ever have....they don't make noise, you clean their tanks twice a month, feed them twice a month. Best of all, no litter box & they don't wake you up at 5am needing to go outside to go to the bathroom....lol

I do think snakes are a beautiful creature, but I am terrified of them! I have tried to get over my fear, but they are right up there with spiders. *shudder*

Ferretts -- such inquisitive little buggers, If handled well and constantly they become less prone to biting you. Got 2 albino ones as pets

Ahh crap thats me screwed then - got 8 spiders - including a pair of cobalt Blue tarantulas.

Tarantulas I can handle, weird as that is. Maybe because we had one when I was a kid?
My fear of spiders comes from getting bit, and coming close to losing my leg. If I know what kind of spider it is, I can handle it, most times.

Ferrets.. A friend had one, albino. That thing was nuts!!!!!! Cute and smart, but freaking insane when it would first get out of it's cage. And loved to play chase. He'd nip at clothes and toes, but never hurt unless you ignored him. Then, all bets were off!

I love spiders and snakes, too.

But...I'm a bird woman. Birds are so free. There are so many exotic birds and species. I grew up owning 8 different types of birds.
