I cannot imagine a site dedicated to love that does not have somewhere, some time, a corner staked out as a monument, tribute, or maybe an arc d' triumph, for that force of passion, that immense influence on us all, who has shaped our ways perhaps more than any other single creature on this earth, over the course of human history, when those ways have anything remotely to do with seduction in its highest form.

Pepe, this is too little for all you've done. It lacks your style and elegance. But then we are all poor reflections in the mirror of you. So take this humble offering and sincere thanks as the best we can offer the master.

You lead by example. You share so generously your insights.

My last long conversation with Pepe was way back in �76. Does this surprise you? Well if you ask around you will find that very few people have had ANY long conversation with Pepe. The difficulty is that he is always on the go. Always chasing after his latest love interest.

It was in Paris. In the spring time. When everyone�s thoughts turn to love.

I had just arrived and was still so very weary from my recent gorilla fighting in the jungles of Peru. The Louvre wanted one of my pieces for its budding neo-mountie-impressionism wing and I saw this as a two-fold opportunity to accomplish some unrelated objectives.

First to relax and enjoy this my favorite city. Especially enticing in the Spring.

Second, and more importantly, to capture in a detailed way the legacy of Pepe via a series of long interviews. I of course feel very strongly the need to properly record and pass down all of my gender�s learning and experience to the younger generations. To do so we must find ways to overcome any obstacles that might present themselves.

Our most important, memorable, and productive meeting occurred in a streetside caf� on one of the busy avenues that I am not permitted to disclose. I had chained Pepe�s right leg to a nearby iron railing to prevent him from running after one of the wonderful women that were constantly passing by or enjoying along with us the tasty fare of that sunny caf�.

Once he could see and feel that his options for romance were sorely limited, he became quite relaxed and expansive. We drank much wine. We soaked up the sun. We let music and beauty waft over us as we discussed in a very leisurely way his work and experiences.

It is a sad thing, for I hate to deny experiences to anyone, that women will never quite know what it is like when two veteran roosters sit down this way and talk man to man., It is impossible to describe. Mankind advances at discrete times. Progress comes in jumps. In spurts. When one of those large leaps occurs, it is an exhilarating experience for those involved like no other.

Suffice it to say we quickly solved a number of long outstanding problems in the Art of Seduction. I will not waste any time here describing the results as they were captured so well in the journals. My intent is more to capture the mood, the more subtle things, that the too sterile format of a journal article cannot capture well. That dry page is the place for our equations, our logical arguments, but not for the atmosphere, the coloring, that is so important for the artistic, creative process.

And this objective takes some time. So I will refill my cup, soak up some sun here, and ruminate on these matters before making another entry.

I am back now and must set down my thoughts while so fresh in my head. My meditation on Pepe's work has produced in me a desire to boil down some basic principles, some simple things, that we all should never omit when it counts.

First and foremost about Pepe is that he is a good creature. You realize this after the shortest of observations of him. He wants the best for those around him. If he sees a ship leaving a harbor for example he stops what he is doing and waves to it, wishing the passengers well. He is remembered with fondness by all who encounter him. He is adored, pampered, coddled by the women who return his love - how can they help it? Without this he would be nothing to us and he would fail in all his enterprises.

The next thing that impresses me is his ability to observe and adapt. All his plans change when he sees his next lover appear. His senses are so sharp and always undistracted by the mundane cares of life. In the endgame he is peerless for this reason. When a lover peels off some outer layer and reveals something more like what she really is, he quickly takes it in and desires her all the more.

Since he has such a high opinion of women, in their many diverse forms and incarnations, whatever particular facet turns toward him he can appreciate and admire. He is primed to fully savor that which is woman. And to love them so fully. He is truly formidable when she finally lets him near.

Ahhhhhh and what about that persistence? That love of the chase? He has been known to jump into the ocean and cross the waves, being only mildly amused when half way across he realizes that he never learned how to swim. He can tolerate countless rejections. He has stellar endurance. By the way. Many of us think that endurance is the prime advantage we have as a sex in the chase. When the woman reaches the limit of her strength, after the long pursuit, often only then do our charms work the fullest. Remember Pepe's mile eating trot. It is more efficient than a careless, inefficient sprint. Oh everything he does is such a lesson. Watch so closely!

Now some have thought that Pepe's english might work against him. That his occaisonal swapping of words, or confusing of expressions, might give a bad impression. Ah quite the contrary. He speaks the langauge of love very clearly in this somewhat unfamiliar language. His smooth french sooths the woman's ears. She does not fail to notice that his references are pretty sophisticated revealing a well read, intellectually curious skunk mind. I am sure this has some delayed effect that wears her down as much as the patented Pepe pursuit hop.

Well there is so much more. But I should keep it short. So that the most important things are digested well. The best thing to do of course is to study the master directly yourself. Make sure that you do so in an environment uncluttered by noise or other distraction. Do it when you are fresh and observant.

Now we must not forget also to track his role in some of the classic films. It is interesting to watch these from the vantage point of our more enlightened age. Observing changing tastes as well.

For example, many think he has stolen the show in the classic - Carrotblanca.

And you will never find HIM sulking around in a carrot juice glass. Mon duck.

By the way, Daffy's performance in that master work I find to be especially refreshing.

Tweety is a poor substitute for Peter Lorre though.
