Don't pretend like you haven't noticed. Sometimes models vanish. Disappear for months. Then they return. But are not the same...

One I am thinking of, was very bubbly, a laugh a minute, eyes so full of light and mirth. But now... now she is totally different. Her canines have grown out. Her attire is now invariably dark. Her eyes are very shifty. She only appears when it is night in her country.

Another was a real fireplug. Full of spice. Full of vinegar. Now her eyes are dull, lifeless, and she has a faint scar on her forehead. A new tattoo is on her arm, a very strange one that I find very hard to describe. But it can't be good.

It happens all through the year. In every country. No pattern I can detect.

Don't let it happen to your sweetie!

Well some go for plastic surgery and some take some time off to workout in the gym and lose more weight.

This statement makes it seem like she has transformed into a Vampire. I think I might have met a Romanian model who might fit your description, I just can't remember her name. A job as a web cam model would be the perfect job for a creature of the night.

Although, I tend to like Eastern European models in a dimly lit room with dark black hair, real pale skin, bright red lipstick and dressed in dark sexy lingerie.

Yes I am afraid you may be right. I don't want to be an alarmist but all the signs seem to point that way. Don't forget that when coming under such a creature's spell, the victim can experience short term memory loss. The victim forgets important details of the encounter or even that the incident happened at all. However the bite marks are dead giveaways of course.

Yes it is unfortunate that we are often attracted to these kinds of creatures. This is only natural though. Evolution often works to make the predator appealing to the prey. Consider some of the ocean creatures for example. Groupers with lures to attract smaller fish, some with phosphorescence. It is sadly now a myth that we are at the top of the food chain.

But knowledge is power. I am confident we can survive and thrive even under these diffiult conditions.

Ah yes... And both of these are warning signs, red flashing hazard lights.

While most plastic surgery is an innocent affair that results in a look that makes the patient more in tune with her/his body, it cannot be denied that there are deviants, Peter Lorre types, who will snip off say... the frontal lobe while trimming that tum or molding that breast. I do not know what becomes of the missing grey matter. There are various theories floating around the western universities. The most likely theory is that there are experiments being done on the creation of life. Although not legal in most countries, and this is the reason for the sneaky snipping, there have been recent advances in technology that have spurred on a new wave of would be Frankensteins.

But another theory involves a nefarious group similar to the Stepford Wives cult. An effort to create an easily controlled population of cam models. There is little proof of this. But some think the strange tattoo may be a sign of membership in this group.

The gym too is sometimes not what it seems. The model may put her hands upon what appears to be a simple treadmill, and too late discover that it is a more sinister piece of machinery in disquise. Oh she may lose that weight. But also bits and pieces of mind and soul if she is so unlucky to wander into the wrong place. Awareness of one's surroundings is key to spotting such false fronts. But oftentimes we are dead to our surroundings as we bustle through life too fast, meeting full schedules.

Keep your sweeties safe. Help them develop the survival skills it takes to make it in this dangerous existence.

It is a very difficult problem to solve remotely. The modified model can so easily lie or be extremely vague about her country. You have to remember what she told you before the change. So you have to fight that short term memory loss effect. I suggest having a notepad next to you whenever you chat so you can jot down those things that seem so easy to remember now but might be so difficult when under a changeling's spell.

Why does the location matter? Well have you ever tried to put a stake through a vampire's heart from a cam to cam session? Have you seen a garlic necklace ever do any good through a computer screen? I mean some of you more advanced chatters may have odorrama but most of us don't yet.

And forget about curing a lobotomy. Prevention is essential.

Yes often we become powerless spectators to horrific events. Sometimes the only recourse we have is to cancel vacation plans to areas of the world that seem particularly dicey at the moment. To let isolation and embargo operate as best they can.

Sad... Very sad... So again, prevention and awareness to keep it from getting out of hand.

Hmmmmm I understand your point but in deference to all our cat friends out there, please avoid insensitive use of the word "fix". As bad as alien brain surgery may be, and as final, we might all prefer that to becoming ... higher pitched.

It is no coincidence that there are slogans like "A mind is a terrible thing to waste" but nothing equivalent for our manhoods. It is too serious a matter to sloganize. And no matter how busy we may become, I do not think we are ever as careless with it as we are with our grey matter. (I still marvel at how some are successfully ambushed in their sleep by pissed off spouses or girlfriends. Must be other forces at play. better check into it.)

Lucy Luckless ventured out into the world again. It was her first foray since her near-fatal brush with the Inquisition. She had to. You see it had been six months since her last teeth cleaning.

She went to her dentist. Someone she had been visiting for years. She felt very relaxed when in his hands. And even though she was a little afraid of the sometimes painful things that are necessary to keep a good set of teeth going, she knew that she would have a really peacefull, positive feeling as she left the office with healthy gums and teeth. A great way to ease back into the swift stream of life.

When she was called into the room with the chair, the tools, and the dentist, she had an odd sensation that something was different. But what? She nervously sat down in the chair. The dentist cranked it back and moved his light over her. Pulled the tray of tools closer. Gave some quiet orders to his assistent.

The assistent was different, that was for sure! She seemed more alive. Flush somehow. Even though paler. She seemed more sexy. A good deal more powerful, confident than she had before. But... there was something cruel and animalistic about her eyes now. Lucy felt herself trying to recoil from her as she performed the normal prepartory cleaning. But of course the chair constrained her. Kept her from moving much at all.

Now the doctor was doing his exam. He was working much faster than normal. While much of what he did was similar, there was an odd new bit where he had her clamp down hard on some new instrument that seemed to measure the force of her bite.

"Hmmmmmm" said the doctor. "Option 2 for her."

"Yes doctor" said the assistent with a hint of a sneer. She pushed a new button on the chair and Lucy was amazed to suddenly find herself strapped tightly in.

"I feel that a few words of explanation are in order." intoned the doctor casually as he switched one tray of instruments for another. A set that Lucy did not like at all to see.

"You see you did an amazing thing my dear. Even though you were distracted by the Inquisition, to say the least, you managed to make the top 20. Yes, I know you are a cam model you see. It makes you one of my most... special patients."

"Do you despise me now my dear?" he asked and laughed a little as he readied a very scary device. A cross between a weed whacker and a blow torch, that seemed to rely upon ice picks and steak knives for a good deal of its functionality.

"You were always a willful child, my dear, a very willful child. It has been decided we need to make you feel more like the part of a team. A very successful team. A very powerful team."

I won't describe all of the horrible things that went on in that office that day. I will just skip to the end of her visit. It amounts to a woman leaving her dentist's office with clean teeth and a new tattoo on her left arm...

You are quite right my dear. This is one of the many so called normal factors that we here at DoRide Investigative Agencies consider before we go to the odd occult or conspiracy theory. It is quite normal to feel a bit of loss and depression when coming back after a nice vacation. You do not need to check in the mirror for an unexplained scar along the forehead in such a case.

In the cases we are most concerned with, there are facts, observations, that cannot be accounted for in happenings of a typical vacation. For example the bizarre arm tattoo that appears on more than one model. The model's responses in such cases is very troubling. Especially when played back slowly after the interview.

Keep your wits about you. And remember, most evil plans can be thwarted if you recognize them early enough and take decisive, evasive action.

Tale teller's side observations...

Am once again surprised by the effect of horror in this business. I have described many
pleasant worlds, given many happy endings, peered with warm tearing eyes at flawless marriages and great romances. But for some reason it is the bone chilling, the disgusting, the macabre, that seems to succeed with the crowd the most.

What is it that makes us curl up in front of a TV set with some popcorn and watch with pure enjoyment the suffering of our fellow creatures? What is the source of our black humor? Why do we so often find ourselves siding with a colorful villain?

*sigh* I woke up with thoughts of a light, airy world described by one of our finest poets and now find myself contemplating whether a made up Dr Demento song called "Lobotomized Models are no Fun" is too much. I don't know if I can take much more of this! I feel I need a break. A time away from the demands, the bloody demands of the rabid populace!

Yes. Maybe I will answer this letter. This letter inviting me to move my family to an isolated resort in Colorado for a few months. A great old hotel. Should be just the ticket.

Ha ha. See you in a few months suckers! I am gonna open up new horizons. Cut a new swath through this bizarre existence. Enjoy some quality time with the family.

Just hope we don't get snowed in. I've heard some stories about what happens when... well we'll see. I've gotta hunch I'm gonna take a real ... shine to it.
