since i started the thread i figured i would give out some advice on coming up with ideas!
when you're trying to think of new ways to be romantic you have to remember the golden rule: for it to truly be romantic you have to give without wanting to receive. that's right, you have to give for the sake of giving. whenever i've done anything it's not with the idea of being rewarded, it's been because i am just wanting to see a smile on my girls face. that being said anything can be made romantic if you have that mindset. it also takes the girl being appreciative of those kinds of things and not all of them are. there's been many times i've tried unsuccessfully to be romantic cause she thought she deserved everything given to her - but as they say try, try again.
i'm a big fan of leaving little notes on her car or slipping it in her purse before she leaves. that can also be a good way to excite her for later too saying something like "i can't wait for you to get home tonight so i can kiss you all over". the trick is to make them cute.. just a few lines, it's a note not a letter.
don't just be romantic when you mess up. you need to let her know how special she is and that you appreciate having her, not just when you're scared you could lose her!
i like to make plans and not tell her where we're going. this is probably the easiest one in the book. sometimes i'll have her drive and just give her directions as we go: "turn right on 32nd st" then once we're on 32nd st tell her "turn left on main st". the suspense can really build up so the surprise is even more fun once you get there. just make sure that the final destination isn't mcdonalds or something lame.
don't just send flowers on birthdays and anniversaries. those days are reserved for bigger bouquets, but you can still send hundreds of other types of flowers any other day of the year. tulips are a great "thinking about you" gift.
for one of my ex's birthdays i planned the entire day. we didn't live together at the time so that morning before she got up i put a note on her car telling her that she needed to pack her swimsuit, a towel, a nice dress and shoes, a casual outfit and some comfy shoes and then to come over to my house at 10:00. i then texted her so that when she woke up she would go to her car and get the note. the day was a lot of fun and seeing how excited she was to try and figure out where we were going next and how happy she was almost made it better for me than it was for her.
remember too that you don't have to spend a lot of money either, sometimes it's more romantic to see how you can make the simplest things into something about her!!
