I have seen so many kids these days driving around new mustangs and camaro's and other assorted pricey cars and wondered who these parents are that paid for these cars lol.I am of the opinion that you appreciate things you worked hard to get more so than if you had it given to you.Anyways I thought it might be interesting to know what everyones first car was

My first car was actually a truck,an 1970 ford f-100 that I found in a farmers field lol.I was 15 years old and wanted something i could fix and drive when i got my license the next year.The engine was seized in it from having sat so long in the field I resorted to an old trick of putting kerosene in the cylinders and let it sit for a week.Went back,changed the oil,plugs,points added fresh gas and fired it up and drove it out of the field lol.I payed the farmer a grand total of 25 dollars for it,however this sparked my ambitions to work hard and go to college (which I paid for myself) and am now enjoying the career of my dreams.I have owned in my name over 50 cars since that day with my last "muscle car" purchase being in 1991 and it was a 1970 trans am that I still have.

Tell us what your first car was! give us a story behind it if there is one :thumbsup

My first car was a Toyota Corolla SR5 fastback. It was a used car which needed work, new paint, and had an engine I could learn on. Yes I was going to buy it myself, but my parents helped a little so I could also get insurance. I put a new sound system in it...then I was really proud of it. I drove this car a through university, got it repainted...then one day had a stupid accident, broke my hand and totaled out the car...but was that car fun to drive through the canyons to the beach. :winkwink

my first car was a Toyota Tercel which had no ac or heat and when we sold it we found out it had an upgraded motor and just needed a new spark plug.

Another on of those cute topics that you cannot help to giggle about when you think of your response. My first car was a 1989 Ford tempo. I was so ashamed to drive it because it was butt ugly, didn't have ac and had the roll down windows that u have to do bicep curls to operate. Luckily for me, my older brother had a beautiful nissan z and let me drive it on occasion. My tempo sat in front of my mother's for so long and when I finally was forced to drive it when my brother went off to school, the car broke down in the middle of a busy intersection at the same time school was letting out. People were driving past me blowing their horns and laughing. I was so freaking embarrassed I walked away and left the car there. Buying that car, which cost me only $300 taught me a very valuable life lesson, never settle. if i want something, I will work hard to get what I want and not settle for merely what I think I can afford at the time. Hell,I could saved $300 and one of the most embarrassing moments of my life if I just waited and took the bus for a few more months,, :orglaugh

I gave that poor car hell, but it was mine, payed for with my own money.

How many of you out there can say you had sex in a chevette? Not many I bet.
Of course, most here are probably too young to know what one looks like. lol

Mine was a 91 white saturn, my sister bought it from her soccer coach at college, didn't have ac and the power windows, well, I would only use the drivers side one and over time that wore out. My sister drove it all 4 yrs of college then sold it to me. Putting the window down went ok, getting it to go back up? that was a different story, the buttons would work, but only to get the window back up half way, so I had to literally grab the window with 2 hands and pull it up. The only descent thing about that car was the detachable face stereo she had installed in it haha. The thing ran good up until I sold it to a guy who sold me his 2003 Taurus SE. I'm guessing the guy just bought it for parts haha. While I drove the Saturn my dad referred to me as a Knight in a white Saturn (sound familiar? yeah he liked the Moody Blues haha)

OMG...we think so much alike! I feel the same way when I see these kids in nice cars... Shit, you need to learn how to drive in something and why would you use a pricey car to get dings and bangs? Anyway, my first car was a 1979 ford granada.....lol...it was a hella heap! And I didn't get to pick it out, yet I had to pay for it! My parents are fuckers....lol....naw....they are smart.

My first car was a hyundai accent. 2 doors. It was an okay first car it was in good condition. I drove it from the time i was 16 till college without ever getting into an accident that was MY fault..... then my next door neighbor drove us home from a party and ran a red light and totalled it! and she managed to break my arm in the process. I got no compensation for my totalled car, had to come home from college because I broke my arm and had no means of transportation. sorry to sound so cynical it just really sucks!!! I got a hyundai elantra after that and sold it to buy my very own car

I now drive my BABY lol 35th anniversary edition mustang GT convertable

Well... My 1st car is the one i drive right now, lol.. The US ppl and some ppl outside Europe might never heard of this car, lol..

Its a red Opel Astra 1.8 16V Sport from 1995. Also known as my Ferrari. No AC, no brake assistant and i can consider myself lucky that i have atleast 1 airback (for me) and power steering which was not usual on an Opel Astra from 95, lol.. But it has 116hp which gets me from 0 to 100kmh (0 to 60mph) in 8.0 seconds and the top speed is still 210kmh (130mph). Somehow i love this car...

I saw a topic about car washing. Well.. NERVER BUY A RED COLORED CAR!

I learned my lesson. The first time i went with my car to the car wash it came out pink! I could cry when i saw the result, i think i really cried.. And millions of tiny scratches on my paint. So this was also the last time i was at a car wash, now i wash my car myself. Now i use some polisher and after that i use some special wax for red paint. It takes me over 5 to 6 hours before im done and its a workout. Believe me, you dont do this for fun.. I dunno what kind of car my next car will be but i can assure you that it wont be a red one unless its a Ferrari.

Paint? Who needs a car with paint, LOL? That's one of the greatest things about owning a Delorean. Gotta love that brushed Stainless Steel finish on my Baby. :thumbsup

I've always liked to be a bit different from the crowd, and my car really makes that statement very well. :winkwink

Granada...lol I had one too.Actually the one I had was pretty clean,then the trans went bad in it.I replaced the trans and gave it to my sister and she drove it for a while.And yea,your parents were very smart :winkwink

You know John Delorean was a decent car guy and had a good idea but lacked the money to do it the right way unfortunately.Still the Delorean is a cool and interesting car and will forever be immortalized by the movie :thumbsup

98 ford escort zx2! loved the car.. very kinda sporty and stylish for the first one. i worked two jobs the summers of 15 and 16 to save up for it and when it was all said and done, i had paid for every penny of that thing!

i agree on your perspective man. growing up in the midwest (michigan) you're taught the value of a dollar and what it means to actually earn the things you have. since leaving michigan i moved to phoenix and now am in scottsdale, which is the rich ass suburb of phoenix - we call it the new LA. and wow, talk about rich little high school brats. you see little 16 year old's driving bmw's, audi's and hummers all the time. quite a different lifestyle than i'm used to growing up with!

Not one kid in our high school had a new car,we had nice cars but not new.Even if our cars had some rust we would polish around that rust till our cars gleamed in the sun lol.

Just today I was walking to the park and saw a kid who couldn't have been more than 17 driving a new mustang gt convertible.I imagine this kid will never fully appreciate the satisfaction of working hard and owning your own car and owning it with pride because you put your own blood sweat and tears and cash into it :thumbsup
