I still haven't gotten around to seeing it but I believe The Soloist was based on a true story and looked like a really touching movie too.

a time to kill is based around multiple stories of racism in the south

also the city and buildings for the movie cars by pixar are all taken from real towns all along historic route 66. each of those buildings can actually be found if you wanted to find them.

Yes, Luckie, it most certainly was.

Some of my favorites are:

Invincible: starring Mark Wahlberg as Vince Papale of the Philadelphia Eagles..

Men of Honor with Cuba Gooding Jr as the first black Navy Master Diver

Erin Brokovich with Julia Roberts as the unflinging, sexy, self-taught attorney

Schindlers List with Liam Neeson as Oskar Schindler who was able to outwit the Nazis and save over 1,000 Jews from the Nazi holocaust. A very emotional movie to watch...

Amistad with Morgan Freeman, Matthew McConaughey, Djimon Houson as "Cinque" in another very emotionally charged movie about an 1839 mutiny by slaves being transported for sale, and the subsequent trial in the United States courts. Very, very moving...

Also, Elephant Man with John Hurt as the terribly disfigured man..

And finally the movie MASK, with Eric Stoltz, Cher, and Sam Elliot is also based on a true story of a disfigured boy...

For some reason, it seems movies based on real people or events are more moving...maybe because we know their struggle or the tragedy of the events was real. Very few have happy endings...

not to burst the bubble, but do remember that when a movie says "based on" or "inspired by" a true story usually means it is LOOSELY based on a true story. while "based on" is usually slightly more factual than "inspired by" they both usually mean that some of the character names and the general idea of what the movie is about is usually all that is fact. granted there are exceptions to the rule, but speaking in majority most of these stories are pretty boring without the hollywood writers involved! if a story does touch you that much, it's best to go look the facts up to get the real story!! :thumbsup

that being said, here's a few more that i thought of:

The Diary Of Anne Frank
American Gangster
The Strangers
Fried Green Tomatoes
Breaking Vegas
The Perfect Storm
October Sky
Ed Wood
Remember The Titans
Catch Me If You Can
Amityville Horror
Seabiscuit
21
Saving Private Ryan
Patch Adams
The Pursuit Of Happyness
The Black Dahlia
Lords Of Dogtown
Friday Night Lights
Walk The Line
Monster
Black Hawk Down
Erin Brockovich
