As explained to me by many models, they do not feel comfortable in speaking english until they get to know a chatter. They also cannot utilize their computer translating programs while talking as they can while typing.

I'm with StewieR on this. Many guys will take a model pvt just to hear his voice. For some, if they've already heard it and can continue to hear it in open room there is less incentive to pvt

I could never figure out why more models don't have sound in their open room (and I mean to hear them speaking, not playing music). I have never been clear on the f4f policies - I'm told there's no rule against it (although some bosses seem to not allow it). I think it's the dumbest policy, because I for one am about 10 times more likely to pvt a model who talks in open room than if they don't. It also allows them to answer alot more chatters if they don't have to spend as much time typing (I realize they need to type for those who don't have speakers). I would like to encourage more audio in open rooms, because to me it makes the whole experience here much more fun.

There are rules about sound in open room unless F4F4 changed them. Models must play the ok by f4f Music and not anything else. And sometimes they are talking to their bosses and or other models in their studio.

The comment about the music okay-ed by F4F doesn't make sense...but as to why some models leave sound off until they're in private--and sometimes even in private--they may be doing so out of respect for others in the vicinity, or just to be discreet. For example, if they are broadcasting from home, they may keep the sound off and type to avoid waking roommates or family members.

It makes sense - as it is a copyright thing. F4F would have to pay royalties for each seperate room.

For you I would chat in open chat :D even though I hate my voice on this site :D I know you are a good guy...Only reason I mute it is cause I don't like my voice :D Other than that if the guest in my room was tipping or a regular pvt-er, I would un-mute for them :D But most times I am just shy with my voice because my cam pics it up bad.

Yes, they tell me that too sometimes - especially in group chat. But then I sometimes persuade them to talk anyway, and their English is fine. But there are many models - probably half - who speak English very well (especially the Romanian models). Even the Canadian models where they have sound all the time choose to talk only in pvt. I just don't get it.

Sometimes there is no one to talk to, so why would I let my mic on ?

Like a nice song says : " There'll be , ups and downs...."

Even during party chats , you put a nice vibe and rock the bed or else....it's somehow nerve cracking when you don't have any reply to what you're saying....no offense , mr Musclestud...but not opening the mic in open room was brought me more benefit in pvt.? Yes.
And I have to admit , opening my mic in open chat room , but I must specify " AT USER REQUEST", turned out good too

In the end , I can only say it's double-edged. :drinkup

I'm actually the opposite. I tend to leave the rooms where the model has sound on, especially if they're talking to a lot of people. I usually have my own music on or the TV in the background, which tends to muffle or conflict with the model talking. Plus, I find it easier to follow the conversations when I can scroll up and review what's been said if I miss something. Different strokes, I guess.
