Bump and a warning for members now. I used to like group chats especially if i was low on credits. After what just happened to me i am not so sure about group chats now. Pledged 50 credits on a group chat just now and i was the only pledge and the model accepted my pledge and just sat there and looked at me for the entire 5 minutes. Not that i expected anything for just 50 credits but i didn't expect to lose them that way. I will not mention the models name as that is not my style but does anyone have any ideas how to avoid this? :smoking

You could ask the model what happens if you don't reach the goal in time.
If I ever accept less than the goal amount i'm prepared to give the full show that the group advertised.
But since other model's policies are obviously different it's best to just clarify ahead of time with them.

I didn't want to sound unsympathetic in my earlier comments. I think it is quite unacceptable for a performer to accept pledges for a Group Chat and then simply do nothing.

Post #61 here describes an extreme version of that back in 2011. A rare occurrence. The performer received 1,000 credits for his Group Chat and then did nothing. While some of us were asking the performer for an explanation, others were complaining to VS. VS very quickly refunded all the credits.

You are right to ask if anyone has ideas for avoiding the problem you mentioned. Group Chat has been a huge success, and it is in everyone's interest here for it to continue to work well.

I ... want to sound unsympathetic in ... comments. I think ... everything ... is quite unacceptable ... unless a committee under my control gets to vote and poll for solutions, comments, and nattering suggestion box ideas that i agree with.

Getting back on topic now...

I've had mostly good experiences with group chats. Of course it's frustrating that some members just won't pledge until after the group chat succeeds, usually with only a handful (or sometimes even just one person) contributing the bulk of the pledges to meet the goal. Perhaps it's their way of safeguarding their credits in case--as is the case now--a model might choose to accept the pledges and then do practically nothing (as some of the worse case scenarios mentioned previously would suggest does happen).

On the other hand, one model I know has accepted the very first pledge (which was mine) and proceeded to give me the entire show as though he'd met the goal. Other members joined in afterward, so it wasn't a total loss for the model.

Maybe Group Chat should be modified again ever so slightly...rather than being able to accept as soon as a single person has pledged, perhaps a minimum should be set across the board, like being able to accept the pledges only if 50% of the goal is reached?

Group Chat and Wide Screen

I saw that one of my new favourites was doing group chat today. No-one pledged, including me. That is a rare event.

His video screen was widescreen, which should be OK if it fills the whole screen. However, in the group chat pledge stage there is the pot of coins on the left and the chat screen on the right. So 16:9 didn't look right, and we didn't see the best view of the performer. That was why I didn't pledge. I was using the old interface (which I prefer) but it was the same in the new interface.

4:3 video is much better on this site, in my view. It is certainly the most popular and widely used (*)

Just thought I would mention it here. Quite happy if any member or performer wants to raise a separate Wide Screen video topic ...

(*) I had a quick scan of today's Daily VODs:

91 out of 100 performers are using 4:3 (normal screen). 9 out of 100 are using 16:9 (wide screen)
