Earlier today I mentioned that there are a lot of Mormons in my parents neighborhood that look like they need a good fuck. That started a conversation about a movie called Latter Days. It also started a discussion about the lack of good gay themed movies, but some said that there are plenty of good ones out there to watch. Name your favorite gay themed movie and what the theme is.

My favorite gay-themed movie is Gus Van Sant's "My Own Private Idaho," starring River Phoenix and Keanu Reeves. The film is the best depiction of the lives of street hustlers I've encountered. In my opinion the performance of River Phoenix is the best of his short but brilliant career. Keanu Reeves is his same wooden self. I'm not a Mormon but doubt the propriety of gratuitously dragging that religion into a forum discussion.

Naked Fame

It's a documentary about Colton Ford's transition from gay porn star to singer.

Didn't know there was a documentary on him. Definitely enjoy his videos. Gotta love a man who can take it as well as he can give it. Should be interesting to see how difficult it was to adjust and to find his fan base. Thanks for the suggestion

Latter Days is a good movie. I also like Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss with Sean Hayes. It is a good one too.

A couple months ago, I saw a film called My Brother The Devil, directed by Sally El Hosaini. Raw, pure tale of two brothers who live in the street life, and they both have to deal with the repercussions of the possibility that one of them could be gay. If you're fascinated with the dynamics of brotherhood, living on the streets, can affect how a person many come out of the closet - then this is definitely a must watch! Fantastic acting across the board. :thumbsup

"Making Love", a 30 year old film with Harry Hamlin (in his prime) and Michael Ontkean (a stud muffin of his own) made a huge impact on me when I happened across it on cable. The theme is how a "straight" young, married doctor discovers his sexuality with the help of and at the abuse of a street-wise gay man.

Watched Latter Days. Next time I see a Mormon walking down the street I'll have to invite him in. Incurious about those "magic undies"... Bet I can make them disappear.

The preview for Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss was interesting. I may end up watching that one next.

My Brother The Devil looks like a very intricately designed film. I managed to find an interview with the director and lead actor online. I enjoyed hearing how they committed to telling a story that didn't shy away from cultural dynamics.

I'm surprised I've never heard of Making Love. The story line is controversial for the year it was made. It should be one of those cult classics everyone knows about. Definitely on my list to watch.

Thanks again for your input guys!

Hi,

I really like one movie called Behind the Candelabra. It's about one rich and famous piano player and his boyfriend.

Is very funny movie and good director too.

The best part for me is when the the boyfriend see the piano man (I don't remember his name now) for the first time in a show and he play piano really, really good.

Another good movie is Last Exit to Brooklyn. That is not funny movie, but it is very good. The gay man in the movie is not so nice, but I think have to understand him too for what he do. Its about people in Mew York about 50 years ago and have problem with strikes and political things.

Sorry my English is not good. I never make post here because that, but when talk about movies I can't resist ;)

Movie and TV is my best teacher

Yesterday I see movie name "Mysterious Skin". I read about it before and I remember in my country some people go to jail for have that movie on VCD, because show too much sex.

Is good movie, and funny too even if have sad things also.

Other gay movie I like but forget to say before is "Hedwig and angry inch". Have in theatre stage now in Broadway, but I look the movie. Is musical, but not sound like opera at all
