lately there are some guys -and not only newbies - who consider audio as a kind of "to paid for surplus" which they only provide in privates or groupchats. Admittedly I can�t quite comprehend this line of thought

Why they think they will make more money by only talking in private show is a huge mystery. I have rarely if ever seen it work but yet so many newbies think this is the way to go

Actually, this is nothing new

8- 9 years ago when I first came to the site it was unusual for models to have microphones and all communication was done by typing. When microphones were first introduced often there were only 1 or 2 microphones to a studio and they had to be shared. In that situation when a member wanted to hear a model's "sexy voice" it was a reasonable ploy for the model to respond "only in private", in fact some studios had an "audio only in private" rule. These days audio is no longer a novelty and is something which members have come to expect of all models. In this situation I can't see the ploy being successful except on rare occasions

So, to summarize, I think it's fair to say that most models use audio if they can. However there are some exceptions :

1. Some models don't have microphones

2. Some models find that using audio takes up too much bandwidth

3. Some models whose first language is not English don't feel comfortable speaking English

4. Some models don't want to disturb housemates or family members by using audio

5. Some models use a strategy of "audio only in private", believing they get more privates this way

What is it with the new models who won't talk in open chat or even in private? Typing everything just doesn't do it for me. I'm talking about the American and Canadian models for the most part. Thanks.

I'm Scottish and I don't shut up! I love talking to everyone and it is what has helped me out! 3rd show tonight and I hope you can all join me

I don't understand why some will not talk. your voice is a big part of your personality and who you are, and they both play a big role in the customer's dilemma on whether or not you ARE enough of a fit for them to wanna steal you away for a private. what happens if even THOUGH you're not saying anything, a customer STILL wants to private with you anyway, then you open your mouth and the customer doesn't like the sound of your voice or the way you carry yourself and ends the show about 45 seconds in!

Guys im not new but I want to share with you why I often work without a microphone.
The fact that I am Russian, English I taught myself and im tuping not bad and understand well, but I had no language practice. It's over, I know what guys like it when I talk, but I'm very shy and strained when I hear my accent! At this stage I indicates verbose microphone in private, party chats and group chats, too ... But sometimes I do not say this because I just can not concentrate on the cum shoot (for example)!in this situation i can only moan

It may sound funny, but to someone that is more main high-quality shows and still waffle? Of course it would be good to combine ... If my naitive language was English, I would never turn off the microphone, but for now, I'm the coach;) :angel

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Jared. Very interesting.

I always enjoy audio, and frankly, even if the model speaks in his mother tongue (of which I may have little or no understanding), I still prefer it to no audio.

Hearing you speak in Russian or in English would be a major turn on, I'm sure. And remember, sometimes being a bit shy and kind of vulnerable in a foreign language can be rather charming. :winkwink

For me, it really is an individual thing. I also appreciate models who type for those who can't hear (or who may have their audio off for good reason). I am perfectly easy with guys who have a living situation that makes it a problem to talk--as long as they just say so. And I know one or two guys for him it really is more natural to them to type so they can be sure everybody is following. And I certainly can understand if somebody is new and still feeling shy, or isn't at home in English--and by the way, I am deeply impressed by the guys who do speak English well even when it's not their first language, and am grateful. But I agree that it's somewhat annoying to get the reaction that talking is somehow too much to ask in public chat. As someone said, it's part of who they are, and frankly I'm very turned on by voices and their sounds, and accents, and with me at least it's kinda cutting of your nose to spite your face to give up that opportunity to make me hungry to go private with me. Because it does matter.

Me personally I can't type to save my life so i always talk but i do type for those who are hearing impaired, or have no audio but I am ashamed to say that most of my attention goes into talking and i feel like i end up leaving out those who can't hear me and I am trying to work on that

I have never threatened to turn off my sound because of tips Not cumming in but i have done it because I would have a full room and no one would talk to me "if y'all ain't gonna chat me up then I'll just turn my sound off" but i usually get a couple people who will start talking so i don't have to follow through with it

Don't worry, from 100 members entering my room if 5 of them even say hi it is a miracle. The equation is simple: most of the members here look for rapid ,and if free even better sex, and most models here look for rapid ,and if long even better privates. There are sometimes when a nice member meets a nice model and they talk, in freechat or in private. It is how things are it will not change soon. This financial crisis is a pretext for most not to consider their lack of taste, morality and education, so, if you want good things to happen drink a glass of champagne and watch.....

I see this also. as said in the lost traffic topic (now gonna stay on topic).

I seen same thing other person said about years ago microphones was rare, but now rare not to have sound.

I also agree with and thank you Jeffie for the summaries you are updating.

I see both issues on the female side too,and ask... omg please type AND talk, so we can hear voice, but those with out sound can 'hear' you too.

it is odd too, some females have their sound on, and nobody talks, so the model stops talking and shuts her sound off (I mean why have it on if nobody is talking),then the customer complains. I chuckle cause like, wtf, if you want to "hear" the model talk then talk to her..sheez.

So yeah I not blame some for shutting theirs off if nobody is conversing back.

You want to "hear" the model? then make a two way conversation please.

Models are here for their job, and like to please you, so yes please talk to the model. if you do not talk, then of course you will not hear a thing, or see things being typed back.

Along with that,if the model is conversing with you, then converse back.

Some may view the model's sound turned off as rude, well I say it is equally rude to sit in a models room and not say a word to that model.

So that being said, I can see legit reasons as Jeffie summarized above, why the model has their sound off,but then again, why have it on if nobody is listening?

So Jeffie?, can you add no conversing back as a reason to the summarized list?
