Are VS Media and other sites in the webchat business doing anything to help and protect their male models based in Russia during this troubling time of oppressive laws and lawlessness?

I will just reply here instead of only in the VIP forum so all can take part....

Most of the models work for studios, not VS directly so not sure what they could do. My understanding of the law is that it is unlawful to propagandize homosexuality toward young people, or such acts in public. The question should be are internet sites that are viewable by the public part of this law?

I keep seeing reports of gay men being harassed and captured by anti-gay hooligans. How long before they start trolling the webchat sites, capturing images, and showing up outside the studios? What is being done to protect our brothers and sisters?

Do you think the bashers are going to determine that someone who jerks off on camera for other guys is not gay? And I have seen some Bios where the model self identifies as gay. So, some are okay to bash, but others are not??? :mad

I sincerely hope that all of F4F and the affiliates are blocked in all of Russia and that none of the bashers have access to ISP in other parts of Europe and US.

I've heard also that Russian models who are gay may not feel free to admit it to others in their studio. So you have gay guys in the closet working on a gay-oriented site (at least the guys side).

Also, I heard that recently several Russian studios were shut down by police not over the "promoting homosexuality" laws but over pornography laws, confiscating computers and cams, and taking the models (guys and girls) to the police station. I believe the models are all ok and were released.

So keep in mind that Russian guys in particular take some risks to work here. Please respect their privacy and safety by not trying to get personal contact information, etc. from them. There are real risks to their safety when their personal privacy is compromised. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Gay or straight, models have the ability to block US states or even entire countries from being able to see their profile. Their studio can help them set up their profile so they have privacy. :thumbsup

That may be true, but the great majority of models who are actually from Russia or living there say they are from Russia. The studio backdrops and furnishings are a giveaway if they say otherwise

Homosexuality in huge portions of the world where religion has mixed with the legal and political morass for spans of time encourages governments, government agents and employees, and massive numbers of the populace to endanger physically and legally all the gay men which they can suspect or identify. It is NOT limited to the Russian Republic. Notably, it occurs regularly within the bounds of the United States of America and its territories. Lesbians are only slightly less subject to this victimization while transgender and cross-dressing individuals are viewed almost universally as monsters to be extinguished ... notably the organized lesbian community is as loath to accept female to male transgenders as are the average heterosexual individual in any human society.

Blocking areas of the planet ... lol ... do you suppose that the anti-gay portions of the populace of the planet are less clever than the rabid male stalkers on the site? PROXY assignments are easily made to view those rooms which block by IPA, zipcode, region, political state identity; any filter is porous and not a wall.

It is a mark of the ignorance of how the biz works that the original question was proposed in the first place. The business entities which supply the hamburger you just consumed in joy do not provide protection to their product. When push comes to shove it is their inclination to protect only their income stream. Whatever protections the studios and Virtual Media offer are premised upon their own interests and any 'friendship' that has developed between the key players of VS and the moodle. Been on both sides of this scale of support as has my lover. Wake UP!

Sorry that I am so ignorant to think that a company or industry would want to protect their "assets" (in this case, "models" who bring in the revenue) as strongly as they might protect and defend their property, patents, and intellectual property. (Even though those "assets" can apparently so easily be replaced.)

Using your hamburger example: a long time ago, during the mad-cow scare in 1996, Oprah jumped in and said she would no longer eat hamburgers. beef prices dropped. A group of angry Texas cattle-ranchers sued her for $10 million for defamation. They lost on free speech grounds, but they tried anyway.

And I pointed out the fallacies of blocking in a previous reply.
