Many new members just may not know what whispering is all about and may wonder why there is a one sided conversation going on in a model's room.
At one time the site allowed all members (not grey viewers) to whisper but soon realized that they can created a problem. When a member whispers to a model only the member & model can see what is being said. Alas at that time too many members resorted to just whisper chat rather than actually join in on the chat that would normally be going on in the room. The site made the decision to restrict whispering just to VIP members must to the dismay of many members who at times found it to be useful.
For some reason the site expanded whispering to premium members which in my opinion was a great idea. However I fear that some members are once again resorting to using whispering and avoiding join in on the normal chat in the room.
Just wondering if anyone else has noticed this and wonder why any member would do this rather than to have a really good time with all other viewers in the chat rooms.
Would be curious as to what others think about this be you members or models.

I know I'm probably going to get criticized for what I'm about to say, but so be it...

I admit to whispering, and often, for a variety of reasons:

- I don't want to join in the conversation in the room because, among other things, it may be a topic I am uncomfortable with or have no interest in, yet do not want to interfere with the conversation because everyone else is enjoying it.
- I don't want to join in because there is someone participating in the conversation with whom I have a problem--for example, I may have had a run-in with the member in another room, and for the sake of peace in the current room, I want to avoid drawing that member's attention to me.
- If the model whispers to me, I whisper back, and our conversation remains in whispers, though if the model starts speaking normally, I do likewise.
- If I have a question to ask or a comment to make to the model that would distract from any ongoing conversations.
- If the model--especially a new model--seems confused about something, I might whisper advice or suggestions rather than speaking out loud to help him save face.

There are probably a few more reasons that I can't recall right now. All I can say is that if I whisper, there is usually a reasonably good reason for it.

I whisper whenever I damn well please. It is the model's room and if he allows whispers, so be it. Don't like it? Leave .. pretty simple.

Gofish sometimes members use it to setup a private or ask if a model will do a certain type of show. I use it occasionally if following up on something personal about the model from a recent private chat, or if the model needs some help dealing with a member or situation. I use it the same as when only VIP's could use the feature. What I am seeing is many new and some longer term models whispering when they say "Hi" and "HRU" to me. I don't whisper back in these cases but reply in normal chat - if they continue I usually excuse myself and leave the room.

I am a pretty shy and quiet person and I just feel more comfortable talking in whispers than open chat...I don't know why

when I talk in open chat, I usually say nothing personal and my conversations are pretty brief. I just have more in depth conversations in whispers...however, I am never the one to initiate a whisper chat, I only do it when the model starts the conversation that way...

I myself use whisper a lot and never did I encounter a model that asked me not to whisper. To each their own some models even chatting through whisper even though the members are not whispering.

I just wish there was a better live chat private messaging system instead of whispering.

To take things even further..I think a stand alone (or included in the Performer App Flirt4Free Messanger) would be awesome

I think most of us feel the same, gofish. We like to be able to whisper ourselves, but we don't like it when other people whisper :winkwink

However, I admit that this is a bit inconsistent and illogical. I think it justifies the VS solution of now allowing decisions to be made on a performer by performer basis. No solution is perfect, but that fits in with the Flirt4Free golden rule: let the performers run their rooms as they think best.

Members now rely on performers to take the lead, and I hope performers won't routinely whisper everything, including the initial "hi" and "hru" (which Brett mentioned). Where they do, I now go with flow. I will whisper back, or try to get back to openly chatting, but I avoid any argument with the performer.

One aspect of whispering by performers that I would strongly discourage. Some performers now say "thank you" in a whisper when they get tips, pledges or boosts. To the rest of the room it makes the performer seem ungrateful and unresponsive. It might actually discourage other members from giving tips ...

zyxwv098 I totally get what you said there especially about members that you might have had a bad reaction to. Hopefully if you see a fishy in the room you will say HI
There are probably a few more reasons that I can't recall right now. All I can say is that if I whisper, there is usually a reasonably good reason for it.

I agree with damic. As I am very animated in conversation, whispering definitely will redirect the flow of chat in my room. So when ppl do whisper, I politely tell them whatever they wanna say, say it out loud. If not, take me private for my undivided attention.

Not only does free chat die but any new members popping by your room will just move on as they will think no one else is in the room due to the lack of chat.

I never know when is a model in 5 or 6 other sites answering other
members because I see him typing away like crazy and nothing shows on
my screen

Models loose credibility and prospective clients that way.

Yep some models are on more than one site ..particularly the European models, but if they are interested in what you are saying most will respond.
I have to sort of disagree with you about the whispering being rude though. Personally only use it not to disrupt the conversation in the room especially if it is something that could help the model. Excessive whispering though is a bit overboard and an indication that a certain member just might not want to be seen by other viewers in the room.
